Involves revealing more of a tooth’s crown to allow our team to fix any damage below the gum line or prep the tooth to support a restoration like a dental crown or veneer. We make a small incision in the gum line, and then we remove a tiny amount of the bone that surrounds a tooth, uncovering a previously hidden portion of the crown. Enabling the repair of a crack or decay, for ultimate restoration.
This procedure involves gently folding back the gum tissue, removing any disease-causing bacteria, and then placing collagen membranes or other healing proteins to encourage the growth of new healthy tissue. This reverses the damage caused by periodontal disease, and reduction periodontal pockets size, keeping at bay possible developing future infections.
Scaling, also known as “deep cleaning,” eliminates these hidden build-ups. Empire Dental dentist use hand tools or ultrasonic cleaners to remove plaque and tartar. Ultrasonic cleaning devices allow for the faster breakdown of hardened dental calculus.
Root planing involves smoothing out rough spots that affect the tooth root. By removing the roughened areas, we get rid of bacteria hiding in these crevices. In addition, this ensures that the gums have a clean surface to reattach to.

The frenum is located inside the lip and attached to the gum tissue between the roots of any tooth in the mouth. Normally the frenum blends into the gum tissue well above the level of the teeth. A frenum causes problems when it tugs or pulls as the gum tissue which can result in tooth separation and/or recession.
